Introducing Moody Cats Co.
Em and I first met in June of 2022. She was working at the Sackville Public Library, and I just started a new position there. I worked at that specific branch over 10 years ago, and was excited to be back.
Em and I hit it off instantly – my job is teen focused and she was interested in working with teens as well. This is a rarity in the library world; finding people who want to work with youth, teens specifically, if their job is not directly related to it. So, I grabbed on to her!
We became work colleuges, and then friends pretty fast – despite our age difference. (Insert Em signing I like my girls a little bit older!) Regardless, our relationship blossomed.
Like in work, our personal lives had many similarities: we loved reading, knitting, crafts, baking, gardening, cats, and we both fight the mental health fight. We wanted a way to be crafty and have fun, and maybe even make a little money – and so Moody Cats Co was born.
It was not that easy! There were many lunch breaks going over what we could do, and then what we would name the biz. We knew we wanted to incorporate our interests and our cats. From there entered research and business name generators. We decided to craft within the stationary world: notebooks, bookmarks, stickers and more.
Our first main products are bookish – we both work in libraries and love to read. Adding our love for cats puts the personal touch to the designs. We are so excited to add in other themes that fill our lives as well – time will tell!
Our cats, Piccolo and Jet, they will need a post all of their own – keep an eye out. Not only are we moody, but these two cats, oh boy! They are the focal point of our products and we couldn’t see our business idea without them. Wait until you see their moody little faces
We hope you enjoy snippets of our lives as much as we enjoy sharing them in words, photos, and crafts with you.
